D1.2 Research Questions I.
Designing a study takes several steps, one of those steps is to determine the type of research whether a qualitative or quantitative research. Quantitative research questions in general deals with examining data to address a problem. This research takes into consideration measurable variables and their relationships. Quantitative research generally refers to any research based on something that can be accurately and precisely measured. In this type of study, there are more than one type of research question, it includes associational, difference, and descriptive.
The descriptive question describes conditions that are happening or characteristics that exist. In this type of question, it requires the researcher to be a great observer. Through these skills, is it the hope to answer the research question. In addition, according to Morgan et al., “they merely describe or summarize data for the sample actually studied, without trying to generalize to a larger population of individuals”. Difference or Observational-Relational question examines the question of whether two or more variables affect, or do not affect, each other under a given set of circumstances. They also take into consideration two or more different groups each of which is composed of individuals with different values. Lastly, Associational attempts to determine if changing one variable in a known and or contained habitat has a measurable effect on another variable or set of variables within that same area or habitat.
D1.3 Research Questions II.
a. Association Question: Will young adults’ involvement in religion prevent them from being in gangs?
b. Descriptive Question: What percentage of young adults in gangs were involved in church?
c. Difference Question: Does individuals who practice and participate in religion behaves different from those who do not practice religion?
