I would like to open this forum up as a means of processing what we have experienced. It is necessary to express our thoughts, ask questions, and discuss what we have experienced. In the context of our ethics course, it is important that we consider the ethical dimensions of this tragedy.
In your post, please do the following:
Consider how we can apply what we have learned about ethics to the events surrounding the mass shooting. Some topics that you can consider and discuss include gun violence, mental illness, community health, or crisis preparedness. Are there moral theories that we can apply to any of these topics? For example, is there a utilitarian case for gun control? Or, how can we apply virtue ethics to supporting community health? Think critically and examine counterarguments in your writing.
In at least 500 words, discuss a topic and include moral theory to support your argument. Reference and cite two sources in your post.
